Frank Zappa says...

It's not too difficult, doing this whole Blog Every Day in May thing.  You should give it a go.

Day 4, Saturday: Favorite quote (from a person, from a book, etc) and why you love it

"So many books, so little time."
So says Frank Zappa.

I first heard this quote (or should I say 'saw') through Edward Gorey.  Edward Gorey is an illustrator and story writer.  I bought one of his books a few years ago, and found it chillingly brilliant, so did a little bit of a Google search and was drawn to one of his illustrations.

I just found this picture so adorable, and had thought it was a Gorey quote.  Then one day I couldn't remember Edward Gorey's name so Googled the quote and found out that it was Frank Zappa who said it.  Either way, it's a great little quotation.

I'm a bibliophile.  I love books.  I spend most of my money on books.  I can't help it.  My name is Rebeccah and I have a book addiction.  Life seems to get in the way of reading, so I have so many books to read, but so little time.

I have so many books that I've bought but haven't read yet, and so many books which I have read, that I would like to read again.

My floor to ceiling bookcase in my bedroom doesn't have any room on it for new books.  There is a pile on the coffee table in the living room, as well as piles elsewhere around the house.  And I'm always in the library picking up new books, as well as belonging to the reading group at the library.  Plus, I will be starting work at the library next week.  Where oh where am I going to find the time to read everything!?!?!

  2. I am also a book addict! I have three bookcases in my house and then just about every other shelf or surface has at least on book on it!

    1. Another one of my favourite quotes is - "A home without books is like a body without a soul" (Cicero)

I think all surfaces should be covered with books!

  3. Agreed! I wish I only had one more day in the week that I could just devote to reading. Found you through the link up.

    1. Yes, it should be called Readday and come somewhere in the middle of the week to give us a break from everything!

  4. I wholeheartedly agree with you! I feel the same way; especially when I'm at a bookstore, or at the library, or even browsing online bookstores. It's so frustrating knowing there are all those great books out there, but I don't have the time to read them all!

    1. Hahaha I know. I think my head will explode when I start work at the library! A bookshop in town always has a 3 for 2 offer on, and I end up buying more books because it's like I'm getting a free book every time I shop!

  5. I adore reading . This quote (while I loooooooooove Mr. Zappa) always reminds me of the Twilight Zone episode with Bergess Meredith. He is the last man on Earth and only wants time to read. Now he has nothing but time, but unfortunately has broken his glasses and he cant read without them... Poor slob!

    1. Oooh, that sounds scary. Perhaps I won't wish for more time to read then!! I'll just have to make time in my life. I mean, who needs to sleep and eat, right?!

  8. Isn't that the truth. I hate when I'm getting to the end and there isn't enough pages for what I want to happen.

    1. Hahaha, very true. But then I've read some books that have too many pages in them, and it's as though the author has just written anything to get the word count up!
